African art has received much attention in recent years with contemporary African art is very popular, especially in works of art in Shona stone.

The hard stone carving is possible only when the artist has achieved a high degree of skill rare and exceptional, which may be acquired by years of extensive studies.
The story begins with the artist who travels the countryside in search of stones with a strong sense of spirit.
African artists have the ability to feel the energy and spirit of the stone.
Sculptors never draw or design any room to advance. They believe that the form is already on the piece of stone. The disclosure process can take several days, weeks or months by combining their passion and vision with qualities and characteristics of the stone to produce a beautiful piece of art.
One Well known artists Shona Mutemasango Fanuel says:
“Sometimes, looking at the stone, I can see the sculpture takes the shape of the clouds move.
Most sculptors do not use any power tools type, but depend on hammers, chisels, rasps and different grades of sandpaper wet and dry. After carving the rough shape of creation, the sculptor uses one to smooth stone.
Once the piece is sand to meeting the artists, then the heat of the fire sculpture with either wood or a propane torch. Once the sculpture is hot, then apply a clear wax such as beeswax floor polish. As the stone cools, the wax absorbs through the surface, the joints of the stone and gives a water resistant finish with clear water to highlight the natural color of the stone. There is no use any artificial colors.
Heating and wax sculpture is an essential part of the process. This gives the stone a beautiful glow, highlighting their natural colors and features. A Once the stone has cooled, the sculptor uses a soft cloth to polish to shine.
Each room has its own story to tell, thoughts illustrate aspects of life such as family, emotions, soul and self.
